Carlo Scarpa (June 2, 1906–1978), was an Italian architect, influenced by the materials, landscape, and the history of Venetian culture, and Japan. Scarpa was also a glass and furniture designer of note.
I studied a little bit of this great architect, he was known for his architectural craftmanship and immaculate attention to details. He is a true prodigy of details, reflecting intrinsic beauty of joints and connections. He is an artisan of materiality, revealing concrete and stone with perfect chamfers. His architecture is deeply sensitive to the changes of time, from seasons to history, rooted in a sensuous material imagination.
